Pastor Search Kickoff – Part 1

November 12, 2017 – The Pastor Search Team (PST) met for the very first time. In this first meeting, we met with the Church Administrative Team (CAT). The devotional thoughts were built around the qualifications of a pastor/elder from Titus 1:5-9, 1 Timothy 3:1-7, 1 Peter 5:1-3. Next, the CAT shared their vision for our team. The CAT emphasized two things:

  1. Seek an expositional/exegetical preacher as opposed to a topical one.  The main point here is to look for a pastor who lets the passage dictate the main point.
  2. Seek someone who is willing to work hand in hand with Living Hope Bryan.

After the CAT also shared some administrative considerations for the PST, the PST met by themselves. The PST discussed how the team should be organized and how we should make decisions. It was formally decided that the PST should function as one, with consensus to be sought with every decision. There was much discussion regarding roles of the individual members, but decisions for this will be deferred as we seek the Lord until we meet again.
